ABOUT MY WORK
The natural environment has always been an investigative adventure and has strongly influenced my studio practice. I am also influenced by early childhood experience, growing up on a farm with animals to care for, by the utility fabrics that surrounded daily life, such as ticking and muslin. Currently, this also includes natural materials gathered from my meadow and the bordering tree line as dye stuffs for fabrics and yarn. The acts of harvesting, dying and stitching fabrics complete a unique practice that connects my work with remembrance, conjuring spontaneous memory that allows time for personal contemplation and reflection.
